My journey in development has been very satisfying. I am a self taught developer, who started learning at the beginning of my junior year of college. I have never been a good student, and I learn best on my own. When I decided that I wanted to learn how to program, I bought all of the books I could and dedicated myself to learning. Within a year, I had my first paid internship. Programming just clicked for me, and the flexibility of learning on my own freed me to learn in the way that is best for me, rather than the standard academic model of learning.

I have been using Swift since it was released. Shortly after v1.0 was released, I started using it in production at my old job along side our objective-c codebase. At my current job, I have been rewriting the codebase in scratch in Swift. This has given me a deep understanding of how the language has changed, and all of the pitfalls and issues that Swift has had over time.

iOS development was how I learned how to program. Starting with C, and then moving to Objective-C, I learned the foundations of programming, and OOP. I have a deep knowledge of the iOS platform, and have been doing it professionally for the last 5 years.
