Software Crafter - React, Node, Test Driven Development

Hello! I'm here to mentor you! Code is not always easy. Lets pair and learn! About me: I have 16 years experience coding web applications. The last 4 years has been coding Node and last 2 React.js all done via TDD. I've dedicated that last 6 years to focus on Test Driven Development, one of the most powerful techniques to code software we'll ever see. I've been fortunate to be able to pair with and therefore trained by some of the best (e.g. 8th Light -, as well as worked hard on TDD night and day to get to where I am today. I want to help you get there too. I currently run built in React.js. It's a site devoted to finding and listing teams or whole companies of teams practicing disciplined Test Driven Development. I also run, a site that's been around for over 12 years, possibly the first site to provide code screen casts. I enjoy mentoring and sharing my knowledge with others and would love to help you learn JS, React, Node and TDD! Are you new to unit testing? Are you a seasoned unit tester who still needs help? Are you itching or curious to learn ATDD/TDD (Test Driven Development)? Do you want to know how to take a story and use that as a basis to test drive your application (AKA BDD - Behavior Driven Development)? Need help learning how to test drive React and JS? Need help with building a backend REST Web API built in a test driven fashion? I'm ready to mentor you! In the past 4-5 years I've been heavily involved TDD'ing JavaScript (React, Node, C# etc.). While I do TDD, I don't mind helping you add tests after as well to get your feet wet in terms of just general unit tests. So don't be afraid to ask me for any type of unit testing help. Right now I'm just doing 1:1 training/pairing via opposed to training larger groups of people at once. Here is some example tests, the kind of tests you'll learn how to write with me: A few other places you can find me: Schedule a time wth me today!

Ruby on Rails Developer

I am a dedicated Ruby on Rails developer who thrives on challenges and is not afraid of getting her hands dirty in code. I want to do my part in the tech world by assisting where I can. I also love food and movies.

Python/JavaScript Developer

I am a Python/JavaScript developer, perfectionist with a strong passion for clean code, great software, space exploration and astronomy. I like to break things, to find new ways to break things, to solve problems, to put things under test and stress, and to have my mind blown by an interesting question.

I started learning computer programming with Ruby and Ruby on Rails in March 2013 in a Linux environment (Ubuntu, which is Debian-flavored Linux), so RoR is what I got the most open source project and in-depth training experience in. I am a full stack RoR developer very strong in BDD/TDD and Agile. Since then, I have branched out into JavaScript, Node, Magento, PHP, Angular, Backbone, and now F#. My work experience includes writing manifests, doing security patchwork, and programatically re-rasterizing image files and sanitizing infected databases and wesites. But oddly, PHP and JavaScript is what I got the most actual job opportunities for getting paid work experience in—even though I had to learn PHP and developing on the production server on the fly, which is strange considering that I did not start out learning computer programming in either .NET or PHP. My developer preference zone equally favors the functional (F# and Haskell) and OOP (Ruby/RoR) programming languages. I have a strong PaaS background and strong BDD/TDD capabilities, and a four year degree in mathematics. So I am primarily a full-stack Ruby on Rails software developer with a growing collection of successful PHP, JavaScript and F# closed source contract projects. So far, I have worked mostly with relational databases (MySQL, SQL, etc. etc.). I live in Erie County, Pennsylvania and I prefer remote positions but I am willing to commute to Buffalo or Cleveland. I am not available on-site full-time outside of this commuting area without upfront relocation assistance. Professional colleagues and contract/jobber references: Leah LaSalla: - Architect at BuyersQuest Dean Verleger: - Senior Technical Analyst at Aparatus Jill Reads: - Senior Dev Opps at University of Maryland-Baltimore Evan Cofsky: evan@theunixman, phone: 213-235-7495 - software engineer and project manager at VTI Instruments and CEO of The UNIX Man Consulting
