I started as a developer over 21 years ago, but I never felt that I was in a position to teach others what I had learned until later in my career. My approach to mentoring is not to teach, but to mentor as I guide new developers to resources on the web (there are so many great teaching sites that do a better job of _teaching_) and working with them when they get stuck on a particular problem or concept.
