Top Back end Developers of June 2017

Software Engineer; Open Source Contributor

Ten years of Web! This is by far the longest relationship I've ever been. Things I've spent my last decade building Web with: Linux, PHP, WordPress, Drupal, JavaScript, jQuery, AngularJS, Node.js, Express, Sails.js, SQL, MySQL/MariaDB, CouchDB, REST APIs, and other less known ones. Things I've specialized in: Open/Web Standards, Content Management Systems, E-publishing, E-commerce and Service Oriented Architectures.

Android developer involved in the analysis, architecture, development, publishing, maintenance and monetization of Android aplications.

After of eight year focused in research on high computational cost problems, design of algorithms and efficient architectures, I have decided to concentrate on architecture and development of game and mobile applications.

I write, nurture and love clean, testable architectures. Language doesn't matter. I eat two technology stacks and a Linux meal a day.

I write, nurture and love clean, testable architectures. Language doesn't matter (PHP/C/Rust/Golang/Typescript/Python/Java). I eat two technology stacks and a Linux meal a day. How is that possible? After 15 years of programming, you start to not be in love with your toys anymore like a kid, and treat them as tools instead. What starts to matter after reaching a certain level is expressing ideas with code, not the code itself. It's the ideas that you share with your collegues, as well with the machine, that solve real-world problems that matter. Tools are just that, and in our area of expertise, they change over time quite rapidly. What stays relatively constant are the terminology, the algorithms, and the train of thoughts for solving a specific problem, given a specific scenario.

Moving consistently and carefully through programming challenges across the full stack

I've watched the web grow up, from simple HTML, to dynamic PHP sites, through Rails and Node.js and all the bajillion frameworks out there today. Over the years I've honed my skills, but I've also developed some fundamental strategies for coding that can be applied to any situation. I can help new developers learn how to steadily move through challenges that seem out of their reach. And because I've seen so many frameworks come and go over the years I can help clients make smart choices about which technologies to use to get their work done quickly, reliably, and with minimal maintenance. I've also seen software projects mature gracefully, and other projects fall into confusion. I have experience taking someone else's mess, applying consistent effort, and making improvements while also improving code quality. I can help set up testing frameworks and other tools to help make sure bugs get fixed and stay fixed. I love working with people of all backgrounds, explaining concepts and choices so that clients and students not only get work done, but become smarter developers themselves.
