Life long hacker/entrepreneur. I have 2 years professional experience as a full-stack Ruby on Rails engineer working for Mavenlink, an innovative and growing SaS company. Technologies I love working with: - Meteor - Atom / Cloud9 (c9.io)
Eastern Time (US & Canada) (-05:00)
The "pickaxe" Ruby 1.9 book was my bible for a long time (https://pragprog.com/book/ruby3/programming-ruby-1-9). With Ruby, I had the enlightening experience of becoming extremely proficient with a deep knowledge of the language. I only rate myself an 8 because I mostly worked on 1.9. But have stayed current with Ruby 2. And as previously mentioned, I've been writing more CoffeeScript/JS lately.
Ruby on Rails
- 2 years experience
I worked on a well tested large enterprise application for 2 years. Here's how I estimate my time was split: - 40%: RoR/Ruby (Models, Views, Controllers, Libraries, Migrations) - 30%: Backbone/Marionette - 25%: HTML/CSS/SCSS styling - 15%: SQL (MySQL) - For scaling and performance reasons sometimes I found myself writing performant SQL queries. We ran an extensive test suite: - Server unit & integration tests in RSpec - Feature/acceptance tests in Selenium - Client side JS unit tests with Jasmine and PhantomJS I rate myself as a 7 because I might be somewhat rusty since I've been working in Meteor so much lately. Also, at my previous company, I worked exclusively on Rails 3.2. But I have learned/used Rails 4 on my own. Also rating systems are BS :)
Could've been better
